Three legs to this trip: Santorini to Athens to Rome to Venice...ahh good to finally arrive at our destination. From the airport we took a Vaporetto (local water taxi) which took a long hour or so, and yes we are tired!

but we finally reached our stop at the Piazza de San Marco;

the huge central square, famous for its pigeons feeding out of the hands of those who like flying rats.

Hauling our bags through alleyways and over bridges,

we arrived at the Hotel Ala.

(Note the Murano chandelier in the entryway; we are headed to the Murano Glass Factory tomorrow.)

Being a little tired and hungry, we dropped off the bags and made a bee-line for dinner. It was very close to our hotel, just over a canal and voila! Al fresco dining at its best and most quaint! As the twilight deepened, the gondoliers drifted by wrapped in songs, music and the joy of living in Italy!

After pasta, wine, song and Venice slipping into night…Early bed...nice full night of sleep and hit it again domani!
