Today was a bust L I woke up and felt terrible. Apparently, since I hadn’t rested much and kept pushing myself to “go and do and be and see,” I’ve pushed myself into being sicker. Duke had to ask Andrea if there was a doctor available (on a Sunday, no less) and if so, could he provide directions. Imagine our surprise when he told us that he would lead us there! We followed Andrea over winding roads and through tiny towns to an out-of-the-way senior home (which we NEVER would’ve found), down winding stairs and finally down to a basement area where a female doctor waited on anybody that needed it. We sat out in her hallway and waited our turn...no appointment necessary.

Once we were admitted, Andrea gave her the rundown in Italian and then waited outside for her to finish her exam. Well, thank goodness for Duke, Andrea and the doctor as I was pretty ill. She prescribed an oral antibiotic as well as 6 days of shots! Double damn!!!

When we were done, Andrea led us to the pharmacy and told us how to go about getting the scrips filled. Not only that, he made sure that we were comfortable getting back to the villa on our own…otherwise, he was willing to Pied Piper us there! This kind man had a houseful of guests and he and his daughter had to prepare the dinner! That he went out of his way to make sure I had the proper care and that we didn’t get lost in the process speaks to my heart. Duke and I will never forget his kindness, his patience, and his caring. He never made us feel that we had imposed in any way! I only hope I can return his open-hearted generosity if I ever meet visitors in need.

We got back to the villa and that was that for me.

Stare at pink walls or Duke’s mosquito deterrents? Hmmmm??? What to do, what to do!

So, I rested and Duke kept himself busy until the dinner hour. Tomorrow, I’ll regroup and we’ll head out again. I’m not about to let anything get me down for long! Who knows if we’ll ever get back this way?
